Quarterly Review!

Since the start of the year, Astra Sound has been involved in a number of events. Here is a review of some of our favourites:

One of the venues we have an ongoing association with is the Penny Theatre in Canterbury. A fantastic venue for music, one particular highlight was the Bamboozle EP launch. A night of 50’s inspired music from Hotsy Totsy supporting Bamboozles mix of Rockabilly, Western Swing and Americana. Another great night included the dulcet tones of Sarah Lucy Dole. We have a video from that event courtesy of DarkMatter Productions with audio we recorded from that gig.

One of our longest standing clients has been the Kings Hall in Herne Bay. A mixture of theatre, music, cabaret and many more events. The new drive to include more live music has meant a sold out show with The Real Thing and a fantasy line up of The Animals and Troggs playing their classic hits “House of the Rising Sun” and “Wild Thing” respectively.

One of Astra Sounds specialities is our hire and use of radio mics, be it as part of our yearly work at Pantomimes through to the world of amateur dramatics. A new client of ours is Stagecoach based in Thanet who asked us to help out on their spring show “The Wizard of Oz”. Much entertainment was had while we morphed the voice of the young actor into that of the scary wizard to match the fabulous giant mask that had been designed. There is something special about being at the beginning of young performers journeys and it is always surprising just how much talent there is out there. With ages ranging from 3-17, I’m sure to bump into some of these guys before long
